After joining the family bakery business in 1987,
Martin developed it from a small regional retail
baker into the UK’s No. 1 celebration cake
manufacturer.

Martin created Lightbody Ventures in 2009 and its
founding principles are based on four key principles:
recognising and driving innovation, exploring and
delivering to global markets, understanding and
delivering for customers and encouraging the
development of quality foods.
Martin’s uncompromising dedication to these
values has been recognised through many awards
over the years, including the Emerging
Entrepreneur of the Year in 1999, Entrepreneur of
the Year in 2007 and Chairman of the Year in 2014
